Located in Kleinmond (just outside of Hermanus) in the Western Cape. The theme is balance. Challenging enough to bring you back for more, enjoyable enough to make you not want to leave. The design challenge was headed by the renowned architect Peter Matkovich. His undoubted success has resulted in a course that complements the environment without disappointing the golfer, whether expert or amateur.

The De Zalze Golf Course situated within the De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate was designed by Peter Matkovich who has made the most of the stunning setting and created a course that places a premium on accuracy. The course has an excellent mix of parkland holes with its main defences coming from the water features on several of the holes as well as the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals.

Stellenbosch, Cape Winelands, South Africa: A championship course in a parkland setting surrounded by mountains and vineyards. Scenic and in excellent condition, Stellenbosch presents a fair challenge with some memorable holes. The stroke index 1 hole does not give up par easily. To reach this par four in two you need a long drive followed by an approach over some out-of-bounds vineyards to an elevated green.

Strand, Cape Helderberg, South Africa. Strand Golf Club is the only course separated from the sea by a narrow strip of land - along which Beach Road runs, situated close to the sandy beaches of False Bay.
This golf course is situated close to the sandy beaches of the False Bay in a peaceful area surrounded by sea and mountains. Ducks and swans glide gracefully on the beautiful water-holes. The new professionally designed course was developed on the site of the first course in the Hottentots-Holland Basin and was opened in 1994.

Somerset West Golf Club is the oldest golf club in the area. It was officially founded in 1908. Until about 1985 the course was divided into 11 and 7 holes but with a change of the layout it became conventional.
The greens are fairly large, and under bent grass they are always in a good condition. The course is 5 930m long, and while it appears flat and easy, it is deceptive. Seven of the holes have water perils and most greens are guarded bunkers or hillocks. Somerset West Golf Club has had many good golfers evolve from here including two Springboks and Trevor Immelman who turned pro learnt to play golf here. Apart from the golfing section, the club also has facilities for bowls, tennis and squash. |
